Launch of the IEEE Tharaka University Student Branch, on IEEE Day

From my thank-you note to the team the day after:

"Managing guest check-ins, meal card verification during lunch, emerging activities and onboarding attendees smoothly was crucial to the success of yesterday's event. Thanks to your coordination, efficiency, and dedication, everything ran seamlessly from start to finish."

• Situation: Tharaka University launched its IEEE Student Branch on 15 Oct 2026, together with IEEE Day. Guest registration and arrival needed a volunteer team.
• What I did: Was made admin of the registration department's group on 5 Oct and led it for 10 days. Split the 16 volunteers into three teams (gate, ushering, registration table), each with a team lead, using polls and meetings. Organised self-funded name tags for 29 people because the budget only covered food. Got the registration team approving guests on Luma. Ran an in-person meeting and an online one on the eve of the event.
• Result: On the day the team handled guest check-ins, meal-card verification at lunch and onboarding attendees, and "everything ran seamlessly from start to finish". Closed the department the next day with a thank-you to the team.
